In September, Apple introduced the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, which include titanium in their design. Recent reports hint at the addition of new color options for these models in the coming fall season. At present, the color variants for the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max all feature the term ‘titanium’ and come in natural titanium, blue titanium, white titanium, and black titanium variants.
However, recent rumors on Weibo suggest a major modification in the color scheme, indicating the discontinuation of the blue titanium and natural titanium shades from the next iPhone series. This announcement comes as a surprise as the color range for the Pro series has historically remained relatively consistent over the years, with at most one new color addition occasionally made.
In addition, the leak suggests the introduction of a rose shade for the iPhone 16 Pro series. This will be the only entirely new color in the mix and could potentially serve as a close replacement for gold. The omission of a gold version in the iPhone Pro range was initially noticed in the fall launch, marking the first time since the introduction of iPhone X that gold wasn’t included in the color options.
Alongside rose, a gray color variant is also being proposed which could potentially serve as a replacement for the natural titanium option from the iPhone 15 Pro series. Finally, Space Black is expected to replace the current black version and improvements are also anticipated for the white titanium variant. Apple seems to be opting for subtlety and understatement in their color choices, as demonstrated in the current Pro line.
In another update on March 29, an additional leak suggests the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max might incorporate a new design change, which could also impact the color appearance. Specifically, this includes a different finish for the titanium edge band which currently has a brushed finish and is well-received by users. The new approach, which could bring a glossier look to the titanium, could prove controversial among fans. However, more information is expected in the coming days.
